Olympic Buildings

The owner originally came in with a building concept with the eaves of the building kicking up to resemble a plane or bird wings, but this wasn’t a good design for water drainage or structurally, so we worked together on changing it to something that made more sense both economically and practically, while keeping the footprint and layout almost the same. Ed Unrau with Olympic Buildings spent many hours working with the client on concept and design. The home is unique in that it is built adjacent an airport giving the owners the luxury of taxing their aircraft right from their front door.

The final building is a post-frame/conventional-frame hybrid structure that includes a hangar featuring a pilot’s lounge, workshop, office/flight plan room, three-car garage, and an open-concept two-bedroom residence with futuristic appliances and wraparound deck.
